The amount determined at the university by subtracting the Expected Family Contribution (01250) from the cost of attend- ance.

This is the amount used by the Financial Aid Office in determining the financial need for need-based aid. This should be equal to the cost of attendance for the number of semesters the student attended minus the expected family contribution for the number of semesters the student attended. The number of semesters used in the calculation for both cost of attendance and expected family contribution should be the same.

For those students not eligible for need-based aid, code '.'. If Dependency Status is missing this field should be coded missing.
